Diani Beach

DIANI BEACH EVID_
If you go from Mombasa, in Kenya,  to Tanzania you shall admire the most beautiful coast in the world. And you should not even get out of the car. The coastal road connecting Mombasa to the border, passing through Ukunda, in fact, runs alongside 10 km of stunning white beaches facing the light green Indian Ocean. Probably you will wish to stop the car, and maybe you will do it. Because you are visiting Diani Beach and you shall never forget this place. While walking on the beach you will realize there are many tourist services around you: hotels, restaurants, lodges … this is the place you must not miss, when you come on holiday in Kenya.

When to visit Diani Beach

Kenya only has two main seasons, the rain season and the dry one. Usually tourists come during the dry months, so to avoid heavy rains and also admire local animals as they migrate from one Park to the other. But the coast is different, and Diani is even more different. Here, the best time to enjoy the sea and the surroundings is December-March, that is a period including both rains and dry months. But rains are never too bad, on this side of Kenya. You should avoid summer, instead … not because of the weather but because of large mounds of smelly algae usually invading the beach.

What to see, what to do in Diani

You come to Diani Beach to enjoy a wonderful sea holiday. You will stay at one of the many hotels, lodges and resorts, eat the local food at the best restaurants and have fun at night. Diani Beach has the best nightlife in Kenya. Both European and African entertainments will make your nights long and unforgettable.
But you can also book boat trips, or scuba diving under those bright clear waves. Or book a safari to one of the nearby National Parks: Tsavo, Amboseli or Maasai Mara.
In Diani Beach you will admire the palm forests bordering the beach line, wonderful sunrises on the sea, the typical African huts as tourist lodges, local fishermen sailing away with their dhow boats. You might also meet some little monkeys, running from the bush to the beach and then hiding back again. Hotels and tour operators organize many interesting activities: kite-surf, golf, jet-ski, water ski, excursions and short safaris. You can be based in Diani and then go visiting Mombasa, too.
